The charts and summaries on the "Overpayment" and "Underpayment" tabs are interactive. You can select the statistical data you want to display using the dropdown menus. The charts and graphs will automatically update when new data is selected. [Note that data can also be selected by clicking on the charts themselves - help for this is provided in the next section].

Click the dropdown menu to select a reporting year from the past 5 years. Since our fraud and error publications cover financial years (from April to March for 'Final' data, or from October to September for 'Preliminary' data), each reporting year spans two calendar years, e.g. 2015-16.
Click the dropdown menu to select a benefit. We measure the following benefits on an annual basis: Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit, Pension Credit and Housing Benefit. We also include the options on this menu to view "other benefit" (benefits not measured on an annual basis) and "all benefit" (our overall total across all benefits).
Click the dropdown menu to select an error type. We classify all benefit overpayments and underpayments as either: fraud, claimant error or official error. We also include the option to view statistics for all error types combined.
Click the dropdown menu to select the values you want to display in the charts and text. The default option is to show the percentage of expenditure that is overpaid or underpaid. You can also choose to view the actual monetary value of errors (select "Amount overpaid or underpaid") or the total amount spent (select "Expenditure").
